About Furulund Pensjonat

Furulund was built around 1900 by Torleif and Per Granheim. For the first couple of years it served as a shop, while at the same time a sleeping place was offered to truck drivers and guests.
In 1924 Per Ødegård bought the place. He called it: ‘Furulund Kristelege Kvileheim’ and continued to welcome summer guests.

Per's son Jørgen Ødegård took over the business together with his wife Sigrid Ødegård in 1956 and in 1959 they modernised the building. After Jørgen Ødegård died, Sigrid continued the business in a much reduced form. It was now called Furulund Pensjonat and was rented out a few months during the summer and a few months during the winter to self-catering groups. Sigrid Ødegård died in 2004 after wich Furulund Pensjonat was closed.

A Dutch couple, Rob and Betty van Kruining, emigrated from The Netherlands to Røn and took over the place in April 2006. After almost a year of renovation work they ran Furulund Pensjonat until February 2022.

Nowadays the guesthouse is run by Dennis and Jeltsje Kats, also from The Netherlands. We took over in February 2022. Dennis is a chef and pastry chef and loves to make good food and cakes. We would love to welcome you at Furulund Pensjonat!
